OPERAS welcomes KU Leuven as a new Core Member

English version

We are pleased to announce that KU Leuven has become a Core Member of OPERAS, taking up a seat on the OPERAS Executive Assembly (EA).

KU Leuven joined OPERAS as an Ordinary Member in 2025. Since then, their continued commitment to Open Science and support for Diamond Open Access, community-led publishing initiatives, and open infrastructure has made them a natural fit for a deeper role in shaping OPERAS’s strategic direction.

As a Core Member, KU Leuven will now contribute directly to the governance of OPERAS through its seat on the Executive Assembly, representing the Belgian National Node and helping guide the future of open scholarly communication in the social sciences and humanities.

“We are thrilled to welcome KU Leuven as a Core Member of OPERAS,” says Pierre Mounier, OPERAS co-coordinator. “The university’s dedication to open science and Diamond Open Access, both in Belgium and internationally, paves the way for a fruitful collaboration. As OPERAS nears its transition into an ERIC, KU Leuven’s participation at this level is a promising first step toward Belgium ultimately joining the Consortium.”

We warmly congratulate KU Leuven on this new step and look forward to their continued engagement within the OPERAS community.
