Survey on open access diamond journals: 2000 contributions already. Do we have yours?

In July, OPERAS and a consortium of partners launched a survey to conduct a study commissioned by cOAlition S on open access journals and platforms that are free of charge for readers and authors (also known as “diamond journals”).

The survey is important because it will inform steps funding organization can or will take to financially or otherwise support these open access journals, that often tend to be overlooked as a way forward in scholarly publishing.

So far, we are very pleased to report that almost 2000 journals have participated in our survey. However, we have decided to keep the survey open for a little longer to better ensure as much diversity as possible:

50% currently come from Western Europe. We need more responses, particularly from Asia (3,6%) and Africa (1%)!

52% currently come from social sciences and humanities. We need more responses from science (16%) and medicine (9%) journals.

If you manage an academic journal that is free of charge for authors and readers, please take approximately 30 minutes to participate in the survey and help us get to know your journal better.

The survey is available in 6 languages and will be open until the 11th of September:

Thank you for helping us get as broad an overview of the OA landscape as possible by taking the survey by sharing this in social media and mailing lists or by passing this on to someone.
