OPERAS Annual Report 2024 published

We are happy to share that our Annual Report 2024 has been published on Zenodo: https://zenodo.org/records/15672537

The OPERAS Annual Report provides a detailed record of the activities of OPERAS AISBL and OPERAS as a European Research Infrastructure over the past year, 2024.

This year’s edition includes some new features. For the first time, the foreword is presented in two languages – English and Polish – by Dr Maciej Maryl, OPERAS Executive Assembly Member, OPERAS-PL Coordinator, and Director of the Digital Humanities Centre at IBL PAN. This supports our commitment to promoting multilingualism.

Furthermore, the structure of the report this year differs from previous editions. It presents our activities and progress aligned with and allocated to the objectives of the Strategic Plan 2023–2025, as well as highlighting how the projects in which OPERAS is involved contribute to achieving these goals. To support this structure, visual markers on each page indicate the related objectives, guiding the reader through the report.

Overall, we demonstrate how we maintain our position as a pan-European, efficient organisation that strongly represents the SSH open scholarly communication communities. The report also showcases our roles as a service provider,  training institution, and a trusted advisor on open science strategies, especially including academic books, focusing on key areas such as Trust/Disinformation, Diamond OA, Open Access Books, Multilingualism, and our support of innovation.

A major focus this year is on our National Nodes. The report highlights the development of each of our 13 current National Nodes and their contributions to their local communities. This edition features in-depth spotlights on three National Nodes: OPERAS-ES (Spain), OPERAS-FR (France), and OPERAS-PL (Poland), offering a closer look at their concrete activities and impact on national open scholarly communication landscapes.

Another new feature this year is the structure of the Impact Section, which presents and applies the monitoring impact framework developed within the current OPERAS-PLUS project. It showcases our development compared to last year and includes several case studies – for example, “Leveraging Diversity for a Stronger European Research Infrastructure: The Case of the OPERAS Coordination Team” and “Assessing the Quality of OPERAS Services: GoTriple and the ATRIUM Researcher Forum.”

As in the previous years, the Financial Report and a full list of our 2024 publications are included in the appendix.
